It’s always good to have the expert’s edge, and Nokia is just experiencing the same. Smartphone genre has got the real boosting improvisation from Apple, and Nokia is, for all implied reasons, is keen to regain the ground. This time around, in order to cater your Smartphone need in a better manner, the Finnish mobile giant joins hands with Microsoft, to generate the Lumina twins. Nokia Lumina 800 to start with, it is the first Windows Phone handset to spring from the Microsoft / Nokia tie-up announced in February, and we've got our hands on an early sample to check it out. The Nokia Lumia 800 shares its exterior styling with the previously substantially less hyped Nokia N9, a Meego-based Smartphone, although the screen size is reduced from 3.9" (854x480 pixels) to 3.7" (800x480 pixels) to conform to the Windows Phone spec list. The first thing you notice about the phone is that it is quite good-looking, no open slots on the body and just a few chromed buttons on the right hand side, a volume toggle, a power button and a camera button, and on the top an audio out port. The micro-USB port and the slot for the micro-SIM is conveniently hidden by a plastic cover, which takes some getting used to, especially like me if you try to open it at night to connect it into your car charger.

Continuing in Nokia Lumia 800’s footsteps, the Lumia 710 also runs on the Microsoft Windows Phone Operating System (Mango), a departure from the traditional Symbian OS that has always been associated with Nokia phones. It runs on a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset and a 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU. For graphics, the phone is installed with an Adreno 205 GPU. The Nokia Lumia 800 is built out of a single block of Polycarbonate plastic. Don’t let the ‘plastic’ part sway you, as the handset is quite durable. It sustained quiet a few hard knocks and drops from about 2 feet without too much of scratching or any issues with functionality. The 3.7-inch, slightly raised gorilla glass display, although quite a fingerprint magnet, survived quite a bit of torture without giving in to scratches. So, in terms of durability and funky design form, the Nokia Lumia 800 is definitely high on our ranking. If the slippery shell doesn’t meet your fancy, worry not as Nokia has thrown in a rubberized case that makes it much easier to manage. As compared to Nokia Lumia 800, which is a high-end device with 8 mega pixel camera and dual LED flash, 16 GB internal user memory and 512 MB programme memory the Lumia 710 has 5 mega pixel camera with LED flash, 8 GB storage capacity with 512 MB RAM. Nokia Lumina 800 runs the Windows Phone Mango (7.5) OS, and make no mistake, Nokia Lumina 800 is a seriously speedy handset. When it comes to functionality, as limited as the OS itself may be, the Nokia Lumia 800 manages to do everything it’s capable of extremely well. WP7’s stripped down; visually simplistic user interface is what keeps most of their handsets, irrespective of processing power, running quite smoothly. The Tile and Hub set up is really what makes WP7 so attractive. Unfortunately for Nokia though, this fantastic piece of hardware can’t live up to its true potential that’s curtailed by the OS. You had a long wait for these two much hyped and eagerly waited stuffs the moment you heard about Nokia-Microsoft tie up, and rightly RightShopping.in has ended the wait.

The Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 handsets are the first Smartphones from Nokia to run on the Windows Phone OS as opposed to the Symbian OS used on their previous mobiles. Stylish looks and OS aside, Nokia is really pushing for the success of the Nokia Lumia 800. For the Nokia Lumina 710 alone, you get a grand Internet surfing experience; Nokia Lumia 710 is featured with maps for route optimization and pedestrian navigation. It provides remarkable performance with wide variety of features incorporated in it. Its proximity and accelerometer sensors in the handset that helps in automation. Nokia Lumia 710 has an 8 GB storage capacity and is available in white and black color. Its Internet explorer 9 is an asset for net lovers as it makes the browsing simple and fast. Get away with your boredom with free X-Box live on Nokia Lumia 710. Nokia Lumia 710 is nicely designed phone which is not only user friendly but stylish too. For the Nokia Lumia 800 piece, it was quite surprising to see that Nokia missed on including any audio enhancements for the 800 and that is a major downer. Audio quality was consistent with any other high-end Smartphone, but it could have surely been better with a few options to personalize the output. We did find the decibel level a tad low, especially in crowded areas. The speakerphone was also a little too low for our comfort level. The built-in FM radio was just fine and even managed to pick up signals quite well on a daily commute through the city. Nokia has pre-installed Tune in for Internet radio options as well.
